Why Our Mistakes are Our Greatest Strength in MLM Training [Get Personal And Be Real]

Everything we have ever done has brought us to where we are right now; our successes, our failures, and everything in between. Each experience is a rich, valuable resource for our MLM business, but if we are honest, our mistakes are our best teachers. Turning those mistakes into lessons for your team MLM training is your unique strength.

First, it is a given that we all intend, desire, and look forward to being wildly prosperous in our new MLM business. To do that, we must develop a strong, vibrant team. If we are to build a strong team, they need to know why and how they came to have a strong leader. Our team wants and needs to hear that from us.

In my first MLM business, no one was trying to recruit me nor was I looking for a job, or anything in MLM for that matter. I was a successful real estate agent in a booming market. I just happened to overhear something that sparked my interest. I checked it out. I found someone to sign me up. I didn’t know anyone personally in the company. I knew absolutely nothing about network marketing. I was trouble and “in” trouble.

My head hurts just thinking about it! Yes, I made plenty of mistakes which proved to be invaluable when my team opened our training center. However, I want you to know that I consider the life lessons (that’s a nice way to say terrible mistakes) I learned outside of MLM to give me the foundation to speak openly about my own shortcomings with my team.

What happens next is one of the reasons I love MLM so much. People recognize the truth and respond to it in every way that is positive. We all become better. Part of teamwork is honest, non-judgmental evaluation of strengths and weaknesses. Then, it’s simply a matter of us working in our position of strength to get the job done. As we help each other grow through our individual weaknesses those positions naturally shift.

Any time I can use my own life mistakes and/or MLM mistakes to empower someone else; I have power over those mistakes. It’s become one of my favorite things to do. I am stronger and so is our team as they do the same.

When you conduct your own MLM training classes, you will bring to the table something that I can’t and wouldn’t know how to. Then, I will learn from you. That is the beauty of the process.

I want to pass on something I do when I begin anything new. When I started my real estate business, I kept a file called “oops”. It contained a growing list of my mistakes. That file became the foundation of the real estate classes I later would teach. I did the same thing when I began network marketing. Now, that is a very thick file! It worked out really good . . . .

There is one final story I want to tell you that is a very specific analogy for what we’ve been discussing.

Between fourth and seventh grades, I broke my right arm three separate times; twice in the same place, and my elbow once. My poor parents!

The results of the breaks are a stiff wrist, and slightly off-kilter spot midway between my elbow and wrist from the two identical breaks. Although I still cringe at the thought of breaking my arm again, the truth is that after all this time, my arm is the strongest where it was broken because a callous has grown around the breaks. So it is with any healed brokenness.

If you have been broken over a past mistake, it is one of your greatest assets. Don’t be afraid of it. The tools we use to do the business of MLM change as our culture and technology evolves and we teach them, but life lessons are timeless. We use them over and again in our own MLM training classes. Celebrate lessons learned and teach your team to do the same. It’s not a weakness; it’s a powerhouse of strength.
